At the request of campus presidents, the task of responding
to this survey has been assigned to the designee to the Information
Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC). On most campuses, the ITAC
designee is responsible for the technology resources and support
services covered by this survey. However, the ITAC designee is expected
to undertake whatever consultation is necessary to obtain the requested
information from campus associates.
About The 2007 Survey
The primary purpose of the annual campus technology survey is to
meet a Legislative reporting requirement associated with state support
for improving the technology infrastructure of the CSU. In return
for investments totaling approximately $200 million since FY 1999/2000,
the CSU agreed to provide annual reports (known as the Measures
of Success or MOS) through 2008 on the impact of those investments.
Previous editions of the MOS reports can be viewed by clicking
here.
Information collected to meet the state requirement is reported
for the system as a whole. Individual campus data are not reported.
Many of the questions in the current survey have been asked in the
same or similar form beginning with the FY1999/2000 survey. The
intent is to measure change over time on a series of important indicators
related to the goals of the systemwide Integrated Technology Strategy
(ITS). However, the survey is also intended to provide information
on new or emerging areas of interest; some of the new items in this
year’s survey include learning management systems, security,
specialized software, and assistive technologies.
Survey Submission Procedures
- The survey can only be submitted with the assigned
username and password sent to your ITAC designee.
- It is important to work from a completed hard copy
of the questionnaire.
The online form has been set up so that you can input data, submit, and come
back at a later date to finish or edit. It is divided into 3 pages. After
logging in, you may go to any of these pages.
At this time, only 4 users may
access the database at one time. This means it is
important
for you to
log out after finishing your session.
One of the main reasons for conducting the survey via the web is to
facilitate the extensive consultation required to provide the requested
information. The
survey questionnaire (.pdf),
including the
explanatory links
(.pdf), can be viewed and downloaded by anyone as read-only documents.
Definitions of Terms Used
in the Survey
Terms requiring clarification or interpretation are underlined.
Clicking on them will take the reader to a separate document
where definitions are provided. You may also view the
clarifications by clicking here.
Campus Data Submitted in Prior Surveys
You can access the historical data provided
by your campus in previous surveys by clicking here,
and entering the username and password provided to the ITAC designee
via email in MONTH.
Entering Percentages
When reporting dollar amounts and numbers round off values to the
nearest whole number. Report FTE values and percentages to the nearest
tenth. Enter percentages as a decimal number;
e.g., for 35% enter .35, for 100% enter 1.0
Error Messages
Error messages will appear for the following reasons: one or more
of the required fields (indicated by an asterisk) was omitted; data
have already been received from your campus; the password is incorrect.
